Pubs and Clubs

Strawberry Hills Hotel is the quintessential pub. On the lower level, you’ll find regulars by the bar and the occasional karaoke night. Take a walk up the stairs to find the upper level that houses the kitchen and rooftop beer garden. The pub food here is delicious and thoughtful – try the juicy hamburger and fries that rival many other pub burgers. Strawberry Hills is a popular spot for after work drinks throughout the week and makes a great venue for lunchtime meetings on the rooftop. Come the weekend and things get a bit more packed out, but if you can’t find a seat there are plenty of bar tables to enjoy a beer around.

Forrester’s is part of Jamie Wirth’s collection of revamped old sports bars and pubs. Located just behind Surry Hills vintage shopping hub, Crown St, The Forrester’s attracts hordes of punters on weekend nights. The revamped pub is often packed to the brim with thirsty young things enjoying a relaxed drink and some reasonably priced American style grub. Think homemade pizzas, burgers and BBQ style bits and pieces washed down with a cold beer. There are a few TV’s dotted around the place so you can catch the latest game, but most visitors seem content to simply gather around a free table and have a chat.
